Use of the ABRA logo is permitted for current members in good standing with the American Bio-Recovery Association according to the current Bylaws.

The American Bio-Recovery Association has legally protected our logo, name, and titles associated with the organization.

The American Bio-Recovery Association holds the following registrations:

TRADEMARK REGISTRATION NO. 3614575 – ABRA

Violations of this mark would include a direct usage of this, or anything that is confusingly similar. Registrations protect more than just the actual mark. Modifications of it may not be considered different enough under the law. We have a policy in place for the appropriate use of our registered trademark. By law, we must actively protect our registrations in order for them to remain valid.

Acceptable Use

It is our policy that “ABRA” logo image be used without modification and in an appropriate manner.

  • Entities and organizations formally associated with ABRA, as defined by the Bylaws, are welcome to use the logo, as appropriate, to promote their support of and relationship with ABRA. Permission needs to be given in writing by ABRA (through the Secretary or the Executive Director). ·​ ​ Individuals with written permission may use our logo as profile pics, on websites and printed materials related to company businesses, services, and training and in blogs to promote awareness.
  • Individuals with written permission may use the logo directing people to the organization’s website for more information in electronic and print materials.

Prohibited Use

Examples of prohibited use include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Any implication of endorsement by ABRA or its activities where permission has not been expressly given
  • Commercial uses (placement of the logo or image on merchandise or products for sale)
  • Placement of the logo or image on merchandise for distribution (even if not for sale)
  • An individual’s use of the logo for purposes other than acknowledging support for the organization, this would include a community or group that is not endorsed or run by ABRA
  • An individual’s use of the logo or image for fundraising for another organization
  • A company or individual’s use of the logo without express, written permission and or as is stated above
  • Any non-member company use of the logo Combining of the logo or image with another logo or text Variations of the logo image

 

Please Note: Any non-member company use of the logo is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to ABRA Certified Technicians. Holding an ABRA Certified Bio Recovery Technician, Supervisor or Master Certification does not entitle companies or individuals use of the ABRA logo if they are not a current member in good standing with the Association in accordance with the Association’s current Bylaws.

Examples of Logo violations: ·​

  • Using just text or text and any image.
  • Using the logo to promote a fundraiser for a child and/or family.
  • Using the logo to promote a fundraiser for another organization without express, written permission.
